Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the licensor of world-renowned convenience store chain 7-Eleven, will put up 70 new stores this year as part of its aggressive expansion plans for 2007.

This is according to PSC Franchise Planning Manager Teresa Jimenez, who said that the expansion plan is in response to the growing demand for 24-hour convenience shopping not only in Metro Manila, but also in neighboring provinces.

"We are already fast-tracking our expansion into the provinces, coinciding with the continued rapid growth of our stores in Metro Manila," stated Jimenez.

Jimenez added that out of the 70 new stores, 35 would be opened in the provinces, specifically in the town commercial centers of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Baguio, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Zambales and Tarlac.

"The provinces are the new playing fields for the industry with a growing number of interested entrepreneurs and businesses who want to convert and become franchisees of 7-Eleven in their respective areas. Already our stores have grown to 51 in the South and 23 outlets in the North," Jimenez said.

To support the aggressive expansion effort, Jimenez revealed that PSC is maximizing its 500-store capacity distribution warehouse in Pasig City, which will provide continuous flow of merchandise to the growing number of stores.

The centralized distribution warehouse and logistics systems is run by Convenience Distribution Incorporated, a PSC-subsidiary company that provides replenishment, warehousing and delivery services to all 7-Eleven stores.

Even with an extensive network of stores in Luzon, all stores enjoy periodic and emergency store equipment maintenance services via call center system set in place last year to prevent the disruption of business, and ensure the convenience and services of 7-Eleven to its customers.
