Pancake House to build P50-M Makati commissary

LISTED restaurant operator Pancake House Inc. (PHI) is spending P50 million this year for the construction of a new commissary in Makati City .
PHI chairman and chief executive officer Martin Lorenzo said the new commissary will be a consolidation of the current commissaries of its Dencio's and Teriyaki Boy restaurants.

Dencio's commissary is located in Mandaluyong City , while that of Teriyaki Boy is in Pasig City.

A commissary is an establishment where food is stored, prepared, portioned or packaged.

PHI is now making a mark in the country's growing food segment.

Last year, it closed a deal with Teriyaki Boy Inc. and Tonka Teriyaki Inc. for the acquisition of 70-percent equity in Teriyaki Boy business.

Lorenzo said the buy-in represents yet another step in the group's commitment to develop homegrown brands with high-market recall.

"The Teriyaki Boy brand, being synonymous with quality food, fast and efficient service, and great dining experience, will address the changing dining behavior of the market. We've observed among consumers a growing preference for higher quality restaurants," he said.
