PHILIPPINE Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) rebounded in early trade after recent heavy selling as investors moved to position in the stock ahead of the firm's second-quarter earnings results due out next Tuesday, dealers said.
PLDT was up 45 pesos or 2.24 percent at 2,050 pesos on 47,860 shares. It was the market's top-traded stock so far.
PLDT chairman Manuel Pangilinan previously said the company's earnings in the second quarter were bigger than the first, though he did not elaborate. Its net profit in the first quarter totaled 8.6 billion pesos.
