PUBLICLY listed Pancake House Inc. (PHI) said its net profit from January to March this year improved by 85 percent to P14.5 million from P7.85 million a year earlier. In a report to the stock exchange, the restaurant operator said improvement came from higher revenues registered at P392.4 million as against P291.2 million in the same comparable period. Profits were propelled by outlets Pancake House and Teriyaki Boy, the company said. Dencio’s, a primarily seafood grill restaurant, has also been continuously improving from a loss of P7 million registered in the first quarter 2005 down to P1 million at the end of March 2007. Total revenues from Pancake House operations amounted to P152.9 million while that of Dencio’s grew 17 percent to P84 million. Teriyaki Boy, for its part, recorded revenues amounting to P153.4 million from P90.1 million. “With several new outlets scheduled for opening during the remainder of the year, the group is even more strongly positioned to attain further growth in its profitability,” said the company controlled by the Lorenzo family. “Moreover, the continuing impressive operating performance of the group encourages management to raise the different brands to new heights, including bringing some them abroad,” the company said. As of end March, PHI has 122 stores, of which 67 are Pancake House; 24 Dencio’s; 29 Teriyaki Boy; and two Singkit.
